Maturity Matrix Offer
We are keen to develop the maturity matrix (MM) across C&W and would like to identify 1 PCN to support their development of the matrix. The selected PCN will act as a pilot to aid the development of the MM across Coventry and Warwickshire.
We can offer a backfill payment of the MMC up to £450 to help support the development. This is an excellent opportunity for your advanced practice team to ensure appropriate governance is in place for their role. For more information, please click the button below.

Health and Wellbeing
Health and Wellbeing programme – QOF QI Wellbeing
Workforce wellbeing, improving resilience and risk of burnout is now more than ever essential for the retention and recruitment of the general practice workforce and so the 2023/24 QOF guidance includes a module on workforce and wellbeing.
Our Health and Wellbeing programme offers a fully funded Health and Wellbeing Champion working across your PCN, wellbeing resources such as ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ and an annual H&WB survey from which an action plan of support is shared with the PCN.
IF you:
- Have a Health and Wellbeing Champion
- Share wellbeing resources
- Encourage staff to take part in the annual H&WB survey
- Have Health and Wellbeing as an agenda item for your PCN meeting regularly (with minutes to evidence)
The Training Hub offer would satisfy all practices within your PCN qualifying for the full 37 points.
If you do not have a Health and Wellbeing Champion, please share the poster below with your PCN and Practice colleagues who are passionate about HWB.

Following the closure of the ‘With Staff in Mind’ service, if you are experiencing emotional, personal, or work-related difficulties, we would encourage you to utilise the 24/7 confidential counseling service run by Vivup.

Health and Wellbeing PLT
We are piloting a face-to-face Health and Wellbeing PLT this summer in two ‘places’; Warwickshire North on 21st June and South Warwickshire on 29th June. If these pilots are successful, we will look to run them in Rugby and Coventry.
The Health and Wellbeing PLTs are open to all staff working in General Practice.
You will hear about the Health and Wellbeing programme, and hear from experts in the health and wellbeing space and we hope you will leave armed with tips and tools to support your wellbeing and an understanding of the wellbeing support available to you.

Physician Associate Intern Programme – July 2023
We are excited to share that the Training Hub will be supporting practices to support their Physician Associates intern year in General Practice. In collaboration with HEE, CWTH will be offering an education package for the PA’s education sessions.

Peer-2-Peer Case Review – PAs and Paramedics
The Peer-2-Peer Case Review forum is proving very successful. The next session is planned for Tuesday, June 20th.
Within the forum, Paramedics and PAs can discuss cases they have seen within their practices. This will allow you to reflect on others, and your own, experience, research, and current practice.

DES Update for PCNs
NHS England has added advanced clinical practitioner nurses to roles eligible for reimbursement as advanced practitioners, and apprentice physician associates to the ARRS from April 2023.

PCNs will now be able to claim reimbursement for the time that First Contact Practitioners spend out of practice when undertaking education and training to become Advanced Practitioners.

Professional Curiosity Scheme – Round Two applications are now open!
Exciting times at the Training Hub this month as we are officially launching the Professional Curiosity Scheme for its second year! Last year saw over 70 clinicians from across Coventry and Warwickshire take part in the scheme, formalising a shadow scheme between consultants and general practice.
An evaluation of last year’s scheme showed the following:
- 84% of clinicians enjoyed the experience
- 91% of clinicians felt that their clinical practice may be changed by the experience
- 80% felt that they gained clinical knowledge from the scheme
- 98% of clinicians agreed that they would recommend this scheme to others

Middle (Twenty)5 Network Launch Event – Thursday 8th June
Join us for a networking event to connect with other mid-career GPs across the Coventry and Warwickshire area.
This event will feature a workshop from Dr Helen Garr from The Wellbeing GP (@thewellbeinggp). She is also a Medical Director of Practitioner Health and a Director of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. The workshop, entitled “Go to Rome”, will provide you with evidence-based, free, and accessible tips and tools to help you recognise and prevent burnout.

Celebration of International Nurses Day/International Day of the Midwife
We had a brilliant time at the International Nurses & Midwifery Day celebration event at the Coventry Cathedral earlier in May. We caught up with our GPNs, tNAs and celebrated with a parade around Coventry City Centre!

GP Nursing Engagement Talk
RCN West Midlands is hosting an engagement event aimed at members working in General Practice settings. Taking place on Microsoft Teams on Thursday 29 June from 5.15 pm – 6.30 pm, the event is open to all Practice Nurses and NSWs working in the West Midlands.
The aims of the event are:
- To provide a space for networking
- To give an overview of the common issues that have been raised by people working in General Practice settings in the West Midlands
- To give an outline of the role of the RCN Lead Nurse in the Independent Health and Social Care sector
- To listen to what you as members want the RCN to do to support you
- To give an outline of the RCN’s Nursing Workforce Standards and how you can use them to develop your practice
