We want to develop and nurture our future system leaders and empower emerging leaders in primary care. We need GPs with an interest in integrated working and understanding interfaces of patient care.
This fellowship will allow GPs to spend time working in local general practice whilst having funded time to upskill and undertake a project in this area. Fellows will be able to access expertise from local healthcare leaders, organisations and providers in addition to scoping opportunities for learning from other sectors. There will be funding available to support professional development.
In 2020/21, our Transformation Fellows (Leaders in Systems) led on and supported various projects including:
- The development of COVID vaccination information during the emergence of our vaccination programme roll-out
- Operationalising the launch of the New to Practice Fellowships
- Operationalising the launch of the Phoenix mid-career GP Programme
- Development of clinical pathways for abnormal pathology reports
Current Transformation Fellows (Leaders in Systems) – Cohort 2: 2021/22
Current Activity
To establish ‘Studley Timebank’:
- A mechanism for people to volunteer time and receive time credits in return.
- A community hub, working with various stakeholders (county council, ARRS staff, voluntary sector) to create strong neighborhood links, build a resilient patient group, improve our understanding of population needs and ultimately inform future service delivery.
A support system for NHS staff who are subject to a complaint:
- A single point of access will be established through the training hub to signpost individuals needing assistance.
- A review of current complaint support available nationally in order to report and submit recommendations to NHS England for potential inclusion in complaints standard.

Current Activity
I’m currently working on a project called Population Health Management on both PCN and Place level. We are looking at targeting certain groups of the population to try and introduce healthier habits into their lives and if successful we can implement in into the wider community.
I’m also working on the Docobo project with Mehwish Qureshi looking at feedback from care homes, patents and GP surgeries 12 months after starting Docobo in the region.

This was a unique and privilege opportunity to develop, refine and practise leadership skills.
The fellowship provided an introduction to and networking with current and future leaders.
We received great supervision and content from inspiring leaders to help us in our journeys.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a fellow. I worked with supportive members of the fellowship team, we were championed within the CCG and were perceived to be valuable team members.
I was inspired by working with many experienced clinicians and opened my eyes to potential leadership opportunities for primary care clinicians.
