CWTH – Training Academy

We’re proud to share the launch of our new Training Academy offer, designed to strengthen the learning environment across Coventry and Warwickshire by supporting the very people who will shape and grow our future workforce.
This initiative recognises the increasing pressures faced by our educators, assessors and supervisors, and responds with a structured offer of training, development and wellbeing resources to help support them. Built with input from local stakeholders and our training infrastructure, the offer aims to give clarity, confidence and community to those supporting our future workforce.
As demand continues to rise across Coventry and Warwickshire, as well as the multi-disciplinary nature of General Practice, we believe this offer will help us to attract, support, develop and ultimately retain a thriving workforce.
This offer includes:
- An Educator Handbook
- Training on coaching, neurodiversity, and the principles of Primary Care through our Primary Care in Practice Programme
- Role-specific support for First Contact Practitioners, Advanced Practitioners, Nurses and other roles across General Practice
- Skill development, including time management and presentation skills

News and Events
Active Bystander Awareness Session
Staff feedback has highlighted that they are facing unprofessional and harmful behaviours in the workplace from patients and colleagues. These behaviours are often witnessed by other colleagues but result in no support provided in or after the event.
It is all of our responsibilities to ensure our colleagues feel safe and supported at work.
Every day events unfold around us all and we are all bystanders. When we witness unprofessional behaviour (bullying, harassment etc.) we can choose to say or do something and be an active bystander.
Come and join us for an Active Bystander Awareness Session to learn how you can help create a culture where general practice and its supporting organisations are a great place to work and everyone working in general practice is supported.

Want to get involved?

Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB)
EDIB Updates
Every public sector healthcare provider has a duty to ensure that its policies do not lead to unlawful discrimination and promote equality of opportunity and good relations.
All GP practices offering NHS services in England and Wales are required to comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED).
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has published new advice to help embed equality considerations in the NHS services they provide.
This guidance contains more information on how GP practices can comply with the PSED.
Freedom to Speak Up
This is a reminder that you can raise any work-related issues or concerns in a private and confidential manner by emailing your Freedom to Speak Up Guardian at pcftsu.guardian@nhs.net.
You can choose to remain anonymous if you prefer. The goal is to support you during challenging times, help you voice concerns, and ensure the protection of both you and your colleagues. It also provides an opportunity to learn from these situations and share the lessons to prevent similar incidents in the future.
One common concern raised through our FTSUG inbox is microaggressions. These are everyday actions—whether intentional or unintentional—that convey hostile, derogatory, or negative messages towards an individual or group based on aspects of their identity, such as race, disability, gender, and more.
Microaggressions can be grouped into three main categories: Verbal, Behavioural, and Environmental. For more information on the definition and how to address these behaviours as an Active Bystander, please refer to the resources here.
