Supporting our staff impacted by the developing conflict in the Middle East

You will have all seen the troubling situation unfolding in the Middle East. During the many years of conflict, tens of thousands of people have lost their lives, with even more suffering with their physical or mental health due to the situation.

We understand that the current events may be deeply troubling for many of our colleagues, their families and friends; leading them to ask questions, or potentially bring up previous traumatic experiences. Your wellbeing is our priority, and we want to support you to feel safe and well at work and at home.

If you or someone you are working with is struggling with their health or wellbeing, please be reassured there are services available to support you.

We would encourage you to:

In addition, Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust’s Talking Therapies service provides several talking therapies which can help, either one to one, as part of a group or online. You don’t need to go to your GP, you can refer yourself into the service online by clicking here or by calling 024 7667 1090.

A reminder to continue to check-in with and look after each other, take breaks, speak about how you are feeling and access the wellbeing support services available to you.

Keeping well during winter

We have pulled together a ‘stay well this winter’ toolkit. This poster, which can be downloaded and shared digitally or printed, links to lots of helpful resources!

National Self-Care Week

It is National Self-Care week from 13th – 19th November and the theme is Mind and Body. The CARE team at the National Association of Primary Care have put together a brilliant AfterCARE Wellbeing programme just for you.

CARE aim to create a wellbeing culture that empowers you to maintain and improve your health and wellbeing, to feel cared for, and to be empowered to pass that care on to patients.

Self-care is a vital skill, and they want to support you in practising it. It is particularly important currently for us all to take some time out and look after ourselves.

This course provides 6 x 30 minute weekly sessions, to concentrate on self-care and our own wellbeing and resilience. It provides a half hour out just for you and gives you understanding and tools to support taking back control and thriving. It provides a mix of visual, auditory and storytelling learning methods where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the journey.

What to expect from the course

Putting your wellbeing first

It was great to see so many of you on the first of the Work Well Webinars last week.

If you couldn’t join us live, then grab a cuppa and a sofa and watch or listen to a recording of the webinar.

Following the webinar we promised a few links to support – just click here to get the handouts and conversations canvasses for the Zone of Power, the Stress Curve, Prioritisation Grid and an extra tool called the Thrive Week Planner (check it out – it’s the best way to design a week you’re gonna love!)

Next weeks webinar

Next weeks webinar ‘How to support your colleagues without burning out yourself‘ is on Tuesday 14th November at 7.30pm.

This interactive webinar is for people who are concerned about their teams’ wellbeing, but don’t want to slip into “rescuer” mode in the drama triangle and take on more stress themselves.

We’ll explore:

  • common ways we exacerbate overwhelm by taking on more and more
  • learn how we can empower others to solve their own problems instead – building our teams’ resilience rather than ‘fixing it’ for everyone.
