Each and every Wednesday we will be sharing upcoming events, tips, activities and more to help support you to look after your mental health and wellbeing!
The impact of a heartfelt acknowledgment – the simple but mighty ‘thank you’
We all want to be appreciated
Whether you’ve accepted a task while your plate is already full, worked through weekends to get a project off the ground, or simply been there for a work friend when they needed your support – an acknowledgement or “thank you” can go a long way in making us feel good about the efforts we put in.
How can we share our appreciation and say thank you…

It might be a thank you note to a colleague who you can see has been going above and beyond or an email to a member of support staff whose attention to detail or positive attitude touches the lives of those around them!
You can let us know if you try this by sending us an email or sharing your story on social media. Tag us at @cwtraininghub on Twitter or share with the hashtag #YouMadeADifference”

Supporting our NHS people through menopause: guidance for line managers and colleagues
The National Retention Programme supported the launch of national guidance for line managers and colleagues experiencing menopause.
The team, alongside the National Menopause Improvement Programme, has worked with line managers, key internal stakeholder groups and external partners including the Royal College of GPs, the British Menopause Society and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development to develop the guidance.
The guidance is committed to improving the experiences of those experiencing perimenopause and menopause, both among the NHS workforce where 75% of staff are female (with about 1 in 5 aged 45-54 and possibly going through the menopause transition), and among the wider population
Acts of Kindness
It has been well documented in 100s of studies that both giving & receiving kindness helps our wellbeing.
At another soaking run talk run & walk talk walk I was surprised by 2 acts of kindness:
- People actually turned up despite it being torrential rain!
- One gentleman brought a photo the walking group took during last week’s wet event for me to keep

With so many photos of the group over the years I was surprised how touched I was by it. I feel him taking the effort to print it, label it & bring it to me really increased its value.
Can’t say how much motivation it has given me to keep growing the weekly wellbeing group & also how important safe places like this are. If people are willing to get totally soaked in cold dark conditions to meet up with others for some movement & connection it must be vital!
