This session has been created to explore how and why patients can be at risk of suffering avoidable harm in general practice.

My name is Elaine Biscoe and most of my nursing career has been in general practice. I have worked as the National GPN Advisor at the CQC and as a Fitness to Practise panellist at the NMC. However, it’s my work as an expert witness in cases of alleged negligence against GPNs that has given me the greatest motivation to share my experience as part of the patient safety agenda for GPNs.

Using a combination of all I have learned; this session will explore the factors that contribute to avoidable harm to patients in the general practice setting and how we can reduce the risk to patients and GPNs.

The session is relevant for nurses, irrespective of title, from an HCA to a nurse working in an advanced capacity seeing the undifferentiated presentation.  It's about being sure of your scope of practice and limitations.

Your contact details will be shared with the speaker.
