What’s the Difference Between Coaching and Mentoring?
Both coaching and mentoring can help you reflect, grow and navigate your next steps, whether you’re developing in your current role or exploring your next steps. The main difference between the two lies in their focus and approach.
Coaching
- Encourages reflection and critical thinking
- Focused on goals, accountability and performance
- Uses questioning, feedback and problem solving
- Cultivates autonomy and confidence
- Neutral and structured conversations
Our coaching offer comprises of six sessions with a trained coach, delivered face-to-face or online in a confidential setting. You are able to access a free first session with no obligation, with 5 additional sessions available for £100 in total. Payable after your free introductory session.
If you’re looking for a structured place to think, clarify and find your own solutions, Coaching may be the right path for you.
Mentoring
- Based on experience sharing and storytelling
- Provides advice, perspective and encouragement
- Less formal and more relationship-based
- Offers guidance over time (typically six months)
- Focuses on support and knowledge transfer
Mentoring is a free and confidential offer, comprising of sessions delivered face-to-face or virtually in a confidential setting.
If you’re looking for guidance, encouragement and insight from someone who may have walked a similar path before you, Mentoring may be the better fit.
