If you are looking to leave general practice (Mid-career or for retirement) or move out of the Coventry and Warwickshire area, we would urge you to please contribute your voice to this piece of work.
There is a more significant movement of doctors in general practice than was previously the case. In collaboration with Coventry and Warwickshire Primary Care Workforce Steering Group, the LMC are seeking to better understand the factors driving decisions in order to understand our workforce needs, help shape supportive programmes of work and inform discussions at local, regional and national level.
This work will take the form of semi-structured, informal interviews which will be performed virtually by LMC Officers or members. Arrangements will be flexible to individual requirements and there will be no need for any preparation. The interviews will be remunerated at £95 per hour, both for the initial 1 hour and the follow up half hour.
There is no intention to address the reasons why you may be moving / changing role or leaving the profession or any attempt to change your decision. However, we do need to know the reasons behind these difficult decisions if steps are to be identified to address the shortfall in GP numbers both regionally and nationally. At present that important data is missing.
Please contact Maggie Edwards (maggie.edwardswarkslmc@nhs.net) in the first instance.
(Identifiable data will be held only by the LMC Office, reports will be prepared for the C&W Primary Care Workforce Steering Group in terms of themes and categories. All data will be fully anonymised so that no individual or practice will be recognisable in what is presented.)
