Returning to Practice After a Career Break
If you’re planning your return to general practice, the Training Hub can offer support to help you transition smoothly back into work.

What support can we offer for your return?
Support for Returning GPs
Learning Needs Assessment
We will work with you to assess your learning needs and create a personalised return-to-work pathway tailored to your goals and current skillset. (See attached).
Return to Practice Programme
If you have been away from clinical practice for more than two years and are off the performers list, we will signpost you to the Return to Practice Programme. This programme provides structured support for GPs seeking to re-enter the workforce. For more details, visit the Return to Practice Programme.
Mentoring and Buddy Support
We can connect you with mentoring and buddying systems available through the Training Hub for ongoing, one-to-one support. Mentoring provides a confidential space to connect with a trained colleague, allowing you to discuss the challenges you’re facing as you return to work.
Health and Wellbeing Support
The Training Hub offers confidential wellbeing services to help you manage your mental and physical health as you transition back into clinical practice. For more information, visit our Health and Wellbeing page.

Shadowing
You can take part in shadowing sessions within local practices to build confidence before returning to full clinical duties.
Networking and Peer Support
Reconnect with the GP community through WhatsApp groups and local meet-ups. The First 5, Middle 5, and Wise 5 groups are available to support you through informal networking and professional connections. (Hyperlinks needed)
