The Coventry, Rugby and Warwickshire Federation Collaborative representing the GP Federations in Coventry , Rugby , South Warwickshire and Warwickshire North , has developed a Primary Care Gynaecology service to improve patient access to gynaecology services and provide care closer to home where appropriate.
Initially the service will support the current gynaecology waiting lists but in future will become a direct Primary Care referral pathway.
The service will be provided at Place level by expert GPs with extended roles (GPwER), supported by secondary care consultants who will offer advice and guidance to the service’s GPwERs and also participate in the service’s performance and governance oversight to assess patient outcomes and service effectiveness.
The pathway is expected to cover general gynaecology excluding two week referrals and focusing on the management of common conditions including
- Menorrhagia
- Irregular bleeding
- Menopause and HRT
- Contraception including IUD , IUS and Implant insertions
We are looking for GPs with an interest in Gynaecology who would like to be involved in providing and developing this Primary Care Gynaecology Service. GPs will be expected to triage referrals , assess and treat patients within a Primary Care setting and organise diagnostics and onward referrals as necessary
The Clinics will be run in each of the four places with the triage components being done virtually if appropriate.
Each session will be 4.5 hours and reimbursed at £110 / hour for the face to face clinics
We are looking to set this service up in the next few weeks to trial the service and develop the pathway further.
Expressions of interest by the 28th February 2022
