Now in its second year, the Gill Schweigert Innovation Award celebrates outstanding innovation in nursing across Coventry and Warwickshire General Practice. We’re looking for nurses and nursing teams who are making a real difference – delivering innovative, patient-focused care, leading quality improvements, and driving projects that demonstrate meaningful outcomes.

This award champions the vital contribution of nurses in General Practice and across the wider system. It recognises the creativity, commitment and leadership that helps shape better care for our communities.

What’s on offer?

Winners will be announced at our awards evening on Wednesday 12th November at The Warwickshire, Leek Wootton.

Prizes will be awarded as follows:

  • First place – £2,500 + trophy and framed certificate
  • Second place – £1,000 + trophy and framed certificate
  • Third place – £500 + trophy and framed certificate

Prize money must be reinvested into patient care or the development of the nurse/nursing team.

Who can enter?

The awards are open to all nurses and nursing teams, including our student nurses, working across Coventry and Warwickshire in General Practice.

Nominations are welcome from individuals, teams, practices, PCNs, Federations, and Alliances – including multiple entries from the same organisation/team. We encourage a wide range of nominations. If you’re unsure whether your work meets the award criteria, we would encourage you to apply regardless- our judges will assess each nomination on its own merit.

How to nominate

Nurses and nursing teams can be nominated by their organisation or you can nominate yourself. All nominations must be submitted via the online nomination form by 5pm on Wednesday 3rd September.

As part of the nomination, you’ll need to prepare an A3 poster showcasing your project. Full guidance and a template for your poster are provided here. A Nomination Guide is also available here.

Please ensure that anyone you nominate is aware of and agrees to the submission.
