Stress Awareness Month
This year, the theme for Stress Awareness Month is ‘Little By Little, A Little Becomes A Lot‘. This is the idea that small consistent actions each day contribute to overall wellbeing as a cumulative effect.
Small Actions to Make Big Changes

One Day at a Time: Daily Wellness Challenge
Choose an action from the poster below and commit to it daily! Use our Little By Little Journal (download here) to track your progress and record how your wellbeing changes.
How to deal with Stress and Anxiety
As part of the monthly ‘work well webinars’ last month we heard from Dr Caroline Walker, founder of the Joyful Doctor, psychiatrist, and specialist in the wellbeing of doctors, and Dr Rachel Morris on how to deal with Stress and Anxiety.

Supporting your team
As managers and leaders of a diverse workforce you will likely have been presented with a range of wellbeing matters including stress and anxiety.
Wondering how best to support members of your team who are experiencing stress, anxiety and other mental health issues…?

Register for the accredited Mental Health Skills for Managers training delivered by MIND!
You will learn how to identify if an employee may be experiencing mental health issues, feel confident having open conversations about mental health, appropriately signpost to support and role model good self-care practice.
Talking Therapies Support
A-Teen Group
We are hosting a new group for young people called A-Teen. This is a virtual mental wellbeing group for those between 16 and 18 years old, who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression or worry.

Please note the young adult will have to self-refer online or via the telephone (024 7667 1090, Monday – Friday, 9am-4.30pm) to join.
If you have any questions, please contact Lisa (lisa.patterson@covwarkpt.nhs.uk) or Michelle (michelle.odonoghue@covwarkpt.nhs.uk), who will be running the group.
Mental Health & Menopause Course
Talking Therapies will host an eight-week online course for women who are experiencing anxiety and low mood due to menopause.
The course will provide information and teach skills to help understand how mental health might be impacted by the menopause, how low mood and anxiety is maintained and how this can be changed using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy skills.
This course begins on Monday 13 May from 5.30-7.30pm; to join, please self-refer with Talking Therapies online or by calling 024 7667 1090.
For any questions, please contact Beth: elizabeth.wood@covwarkpt.nhs.uk.

GP Practice Scheme to Help Veterans Silently Struggling With Their Health
GP practices are being urged to become Veteran Friendly Accredited after new data found that signing up, practices would encourage thousands of military veterans who may be silently struggling with their health to seek help.

The free scheme, run by the RCGP, takes 20 minutes to join and saves busy practice staff time by enabling them to more quickly and effectively identify, understand, support and, where appropriate, refer veterans – reducing the need for repeat appointments and shortening waiting times for diagnosis and treatments.
Over 3,000 practices have already signed up. 99% of practices recommend it.
Putting your wellbeing first

May webinar: How to have healthy conflict conversations
What’s the challenging conversation that is holding you back at the moment? Or what is a conversation that you know you should have but are avoiding?
We all face conversations that feel hard and uncomfortable. But when we avoid or deflect them, we end up with resentment and discontent building up in a way that can have a hugely detrimental impact on our team.
Understanding what happens to us when we are triggered, the impact of operating in a chaotic emotional state and choosing a different mindset is key to changing how we go about having more effective and useful conversations.
**Attending counts towards your CPD- forms to evidence this are provided by the Shapes Toolkit team**
Our next webinar, How to have healthy conflict conversations, is happening at 7.30pm on Wednesday 15th May.
Annie Hanekom, Director of Leadership at Wild Monday will be hosting Dr Sarah Coope who has a background in clinical education, coaching and leadership, at the May Work Well Webinar to help you learn:
- How to avoid dysfunctional approaches to a tricky conversation
- Steer clear of having conversations when triggered
- Get better at managing our response
When you register, you’ll also get access to recordings of the previous trainings and lots of other helpful resources.
Discover how Vivup supports your colleagues and could support you…
I can get wellbeing support on the go
I love that I can access mental health podcasts on the go – being able to access support on the way to work or when i’m out and about has been a real game changer for me.

I saved approx. £200 on my supermarket shop!
My family and I have struggled with the cost of living as many of us have and the high street e-vouchers have helped us to save. We saved around £200 last year on our supermarket shop!
My tip is to download the Vivup app and buy your e-voucher on the go so you can save wherever you end up shopping.

Confidential support when I needed it
Work has felt really stressful and with elderly parents to support and two teenagers to look after I was struggling to cope and really needed someone to talk to. I had seen the Vivup telephone support poster and thought i’d give them a call.
I’m really glad I did…
