A series of half day face-to-face Diabetes Update meetings are being provided by Coventry and Warwickshire ICB. These events are being produced for the ICB by the Coventry and Warwickshire Diabetes Prescribing Group (Co-chaired by Professor Vinod Patel and GP Jim McMorran).
The comprehensive half-day programme will cover "hot topics" in type 2 diabetes via short talks and interactive case studies. Topics to be covered will include:
- The use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in empowering patients with diabetes
- SGLT2 inhibitors - an update with respect to use of these agents in glycaemia, chronic kidney disease and heart failure
- GLP1 agonists and beyond - a GLP1 update and review of terzepatide
- Use of insulin in type 2 diabetes
- Multifactorial interventions in type 2 diabetes care - the Alphabet Strategy
- Review of updated NICE guidelines and National Diabetes Targets
- Diabetes care in special groups: frailty, Ramadan, preventing and remission of diabetes
- Diabetes Complications
Objectives
- Improving confidence of local HCPs in managing type 2 diabetes
- Providing optimal skills to improve diabetes care in general practice
- Confidence to manage common diabetes problems encountered in primary care
